Description: Ginger is a perennial herb and grows to about 3 - 4 feet high (approximately 1 meter). It has a characteristic thick spreading tuberous rhizome.
Colour: Light Yellow
Common Uses: Ginger oil is believed by aromatherapists to be applicable for colds and flu, nausea, circulation issues and arthritic pain. It also has warming properties that help to combat loneliness, and depression.
Strength of Aroma: Medium to Strong
Blends well with: Ginger blends well with bergamot, sandalwood, ylang-ylang, and other spice oils.
Aromatic Scent: Ginger has a warm, spicy, woody scent with a hint of lemon and pepper.
History: The plant is said to originate from India, China and Java, but is also native to Africa and the West Indies. It is believed that Ginger was brought to Europe between the 10th and 15th century as both a condiment and spice. It has been used for medicinal purposes since the ancient times; it is recorded specifically in both Sanskrit and Chinese texts. It is also mentioned in literature from the Greeks, Romans, and Arabians.
Cautions: Ginger can irritate sensitive skin and is photo-toxic. Sun exposure is to be avoided after application. Avoid use on babies and children.

Methods of Use
Bath – add up to 2 to 3 drops of Essential Oil to a full bath with warm water. Agitate the water and soak for 20 mins. For sensitive skin types add 2 to 3 tablespoons of milk or soy milk, (if lactose intolerant).
Foot Treatment – add up to 3 drops of Essential Oil Blend in Foot Spa. Soak feet for 10 minutes then dry and moisturise with Massage Oil Blend or Replenish Hand & Body Cream
Hand Treatment – Add 2 to 3 drops of Essential Oil Blend into a bowl of warm water. Soak hands for 10 minutes. Dry and moisturise with Massage Oil Blend or Replenish Hand & Body Cream
Salt Scrub – to 2 cups of Sea Salt, add 15ml of Massage Oil Blend and 5 drops of Essential Oil Blend. Massage over entire body and wipe off with warm damp cloth or Shower.
Aromatherapy Massage – Dilute 2 to 3 drops of appropriate Essential Oil Blend into 15mls of Massage Oil Blend. Always use dark glass bottles for ultimate safety and protection, as Essential Oils will affect plastics.
